When it comes to boudoir photography, one of the most important aspects is finding the right outfit. Not only does your outfit need to fit your body type, but it also needs to make you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. If you’re a plus size woman shopping for boudoir outfits can be a bit daunting. However, it doesn’t have to be! Keep these tips in mind when you’re out shopping for your next plus size boudoir outfit.
You want to feel good in what you’re wearing for you boudoir session so that you can relax and enjoy the experience. If you’re not comfortable, it will show in your photos. Look for items made of soft fabrics that will move with you and won’t bunch up or restrict your movement. Silk, satin, and lace are all great choices. Avoid anything too tight or constricting—you want to be able to breathe easy and move freely.
You need to know your sizes regardless of if you’re shopping for plus size boudoir outfits. This may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s important to remember that not all brands use the same sizing standards. That means that a size 12 in one brand may not fit the same as a size 12 in another brand. To avoid sizing issues, we recommend taking accurate measurements of your Bust, Waist, and Hips before you start shopping. Once you have your measurements, you can use them to find the corresponding size in each brand’s size chart.
Not all plus size women are created equal! We all come in different shapes and sizes, and what looks good on one body type may not look good on another. When shopping for boudoir outfits, it’s important to keep your body type in mind. Are you pear-shaped with a smaller bust and wider hip area? Or are you apple-shaped with a larger bust and a smaller waist? Knowing your body type will help you pick styles that flatter your figure and make you feel confident on camera.
Don’t Be Afraid to Try Something New for your plus size boudoir outfits. When it comes to boudoir photography, it’s important to step outside of your comfort zone. This is your chance to experiment with new styles and trends that you might not normally try. So go ahead and try that slinky slip dress or that sexy lace lingerie set that you’ve been eyeing. You might be surprised at how good you feel in something that’s a little bit out of your comfort zone.
Next, think about what colors make you feel most confident. Do you prefer more subdued tones or do bright colors make you feel bold and beautiful? There are no right or wrong answers here—it’s all about what makes you feel good. If you’re not sure where to start, black is always a classic choice that flatters every body type. Make sure that the different out fits have a cohesiveness to the color palette. For example, jewel tones and pastels aren’t going to work well together.
Above all else, don’t forget to have fun with it! Boudoir photography is all about celebrating your body and feeling sexy and confident in front of the camera. So go forth and find an outfit (or two!) that makes you feel like a million bucks. We guarantee you’ll love the results!
The right jewelry, shoes, and other accessories can really complete your look and help you feel glamourous. Have fun with it and choose pieces that make you happy. You might even want to splurge on something new just for the occasion.
We hope these tips have inspired you to shop with confidence for your next plus size boudoir shoot! Remember to know your sizes, consider your body type, and don’t forget the little details when putting together your outfit. And most importantly, have fun with it! Boudoir is all about celebrating your unique beauty, so let your personality shine through in everything you choose.
Plus Size Boudoir Outfits that actually flatter your body type can be hard to find. That’s why I’ve created this simple guide with links to the amazon listings (affiliates) so that you know you’re purchasing something that works for you!
The right body suit will flatter just about any body type. A body suit can cover flaws in our stomach area (thanks kids!) and cinch the waist creating an hourglass figure.
Corsets will take the body suit idea a step further, accentuating your curves and holding everything where we want it. Make sure to get a corset with cups to support your girls without flattening them.
I love a good babydoll! A supportive top and flowy bottom will put your girls in the right spot and hid any tummy imperfections. Babydolls come in tons of different fabrics which will allow you to create the exact look you imagine.
Not granny panties, but gorgeous, high waisted, lace detailed lingerie panties. I found some with a cute zipper feature 😉
An oversized button down is phenomenal for pictures. You can pick one up at just about any store. It can be worn unbuttoned, off the shoulder or tied at the waste for a super sexy, simple look.
This is the same theory as the button down. You could do a pull over sweater, or a cardigan (or both) over some of those high waisted panties for a gorgeous, sexy, but modest look!
There are SO many robe options! Lace, chiffon, silk, pretty prints, short, long, etc. All of these are gorgeous for boudoir outfits and will flatter all body types!
With or without a corset or bodysuit, a pair of thigh highs are super flattering. Make sure you do some research and get a really good pair if you want to go this route so that they don’t roll down on you. I specifically tagged some here that have a waist band built in that will be best for staying put!
Especially if you’re doing these for him or you’re a huge sports fan! Oversized jerseys and lace panties go great together!
Rompers are super comfy and super sexy and you can find every style of romper available. Just make sure you can support the girls in it 🙂
Sheer skirts will dress up any simple look. Add it to a simple bra & panty set, put it over a body suit or corset, and you can go bare underneath for a flattering, sexy look!
A leather jacket with a simple lace bra (or nothing) underneath will most definitely be gorgeous and photographs so well. A lot of women complain about their arms, and this is a great way to stay sexy and keep them covered!
Just wrap up in a simple white sheet for gorgeous, simple, sexy boudoir photos! I’ve got the sheet covered for you ❤️
Any good supportive bra & panty set will photograph beautifully. Especially when paired with the expert illusion posing we provide that is designed to flatter every body type.
Add a little shimmer or bling to your boudoir outfit by pairing some of this body jewelry with simple bra & panty sets or the high waisted panties and nothing on top!
